It also interacts with non-governmental organisations representing a range of different interests, the media and other relevant stakeholders.

The home appliance industry positively contributes to the EU economy as well as to the protection of the environment and EU consumers’ well-being. Over many years the industry has contributed to driving down household energy consumption with innovative appliances that consume less energy. CECED members have also acted to ensure that the environmental impact of the consumer use of appliances is minimised.

The annual turnover of the industry in Europe is €50bn (2013). The industry generates 215,000 direct jobs and the scale of the industry’s activities in Europe also provides up and downstream employment to many thousands of others. In total, the industry’s total contribution to employment in the European Union is estimated to be approximately 1 million jobs.
