Patrick O. Brown, M.D., Ph.D., is founder and CEO of Impossible Foods, a Redwood City, California-based startup making meat and dairy products directly from plants. Its first product, the Impossible Burger, is set to launch in the U.S. next year.
Brown founded Impossible Foods to replace the world's most environmentally destructive industry - animal farming - by making delicious, healthy and affordable meats and cheeses from plant ingredients. Pat is also a founder of Lyrical Foods, maker of Kite Hill nut-based cheeses, and the Public Library of Science. Pat was previously a Professor of Biochemistry and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine, and has been awarded the American Cancer Society Medal of Honor and the NAS Award in Molecular Biology.
